Instant messenger (IM) is soon becoming a popular communication mechanism used by one and all. Content Management (CM) clients can leverage this functionality to enhance document routing. In a typical content management scenario, a user can route a document to another user for further processing, unless and until the receiving user has the content management client open, he or she doesn't get notified of such document arrival. The IM enabled CM client would notify or even route the document using the infrastructure provided by IM.
