Abstract

This article describes a driving method to enhance the effect of Electro-Static Field (ESF) reduction for a CRT (cathode ray tube) display with a conductive coating film on the CRT screen. Several methods have been proposed to reduce ESF on CRT screens. One of the simplest and popular methods is a conductive film coating, such as silica coating or tin oxide coating which is confirmed to show a remarkable effect on reducing an electric shock, excellent visibility and durability. However, it still possibile to receive an electric shock from the CRT screen at the moment the CRT display is switched on/off, since the peak screen potential is nearly equal to the anode voltage, as shown in Fig. 1, curve (i).
