Bit Synchronization Feedback ALGORITHM for Full-Duplex Links

Disclosed is an algorithm for real-time detection of bit synchronization failure in a full-duplex link. The ports on each side of the link indicate to one another whether or not bit synchronization connection has been established. Data transfer starts only if both sides indicate that they have gain bit synchronization. Based upon this mechanism it is possible to indicate another kind of failure. In the case of a failure on one side of the link, it will be indicated to the transmitter on the other side of the link to stop its transmission. Most networks are constructed of full-duplex links and ports, i.e., it is possible to transmit simultaneously in both directions. The following algorithm exploits this property, in order to minimize the data lost in the case bit synchronization failure.
