Lubricant can be effectively released over a long period of time and at a controlled release rate to the pivots of print hammers or actuators by providing a lubricant-impregnated pivot block of controlled porosity with a reservoir in the form of a cavity or other impregnated member. In Figs. 1A and 1B, a pivot block 1 for print hammers is supported on mounting bar 2 and is formed of a porous metal body. The block is formed with integral separators 3 between the hammers having openings 4 to receive a pivot rod on which the hammers oscillate. Openings 5 are for mounting screws. Block 1 is impregnated with lubricant and can also be provided with cavity 6 in which a lubricant-impregnated wick 7 rests in contact with the block.
