Cut-Sheet Paper Tray Spring Compensates for Paper Load Variables

Disclosed is a cut-sheet paper tray in which a variable rate spring compensates for depth of paper stack, paper width, and paper density, thus assuring picking of single sheets. Fig. 1 shows a top view of the present embodiment in which the main member is Tray 1. Platform 2, with Tenons 3 snapped into mating pivot holes, is nested within Tray 1. The upward movement of the free end of Platform 2 is limited by Corner Buckler 4, which is beside the Platform, pivoting freely on one of its Tenons 3. Handle 5 adjusts the position of Paper Guide 6 for the width of the sheets. A Pad 7 is affixed to the Platform at a point which is below the feed roll when the loaded tray is inserted into the sheet feeder.
