Abstract

A print band on a printer can be used to drive a ribbon stuffer cartridge and eliminate the need for a stuffer drive motor. In the figures, print band 1 is driven by printer 2 and engages soft rubber drive wheel 3 with pinion 4 fixed thereto. The drive wheel and pinion are supported on yoke 5 that is pivotally mounted on drive shaft 6 supported at one end in printer platen 7. Pinion 4 drives gear 8 fixed on shaft 6. Spring 9 urges yoke 5 clockwise about its pivot to urge wheel 3 against band 1. Adjustable stop 10 limits rotation of the yoke. A ribbon stuffer cartridge 11 is mounted on platen 7 with a set of knurled drive gears 12 engaging ribbon 13 and rotatable shaft 6. (Image Omitted)
