Abstract

Disclosed is a device for easily cleaning the developing unit of an electrophotographic (EP) printer without staining the operator's hands with toner. In the EP printer, the electro-static images on the photo- conductor (PC) drum or belt are developed with the toner mixed with the magnetic particle called "carrier" in the developing unit. The mixture of the toner and the carrier is transported by the magnetic roll to touch the surface of the PC drum, then, only the toner is attracted toward the drum. The carrier should be periodically replaced with a new one due to its limited life. However, it is very hard to fully remove the mixture from the magnetic roll to clean its surface, because the mixture is attracted to the magnetic roll by the magnetic force.
