This article describes a mechanism for integrating PC panel variables with variables generated from Host information during Activity processing. The Professional Work Manager (PWM) provides the capability for a user to define procedures called Activities which can simulate a user working with the Host and/or the PC. An Activity comprises a series of commands, among them, one that allows sending keystrokes to the Host, and another, that allows retrieving data from the Host presentation space (a buffer area which holds the contents of the current host screen). The presentation space can also be searched for a string value that helps determine when data have been displayed and the location of the data on the Host presentation space. The same Activity may invoke PC services and programs.
