High Temperature Superconducting Fet With High Sensitivity to Gate Voltage

Recently a new class of high temperature superconductors typified by La2CuO4, (La1-xSrx)2CuO4, and (La1-xBax)2CuO4-y and other materials has been discovered. Studies have indicated that the mixed valent nature of the Cu in these compounds is important for the superconducting properties, and that this manifests itself as a very high sensitivity to applied pressure and an extremely high sensitivity to composition, with compositions near the metal-insulator transition showing the highest superconducting transition temperatures. There are indications that these metallic oxide superconductors have relatively low carrier concentrations for a metal ( 10X lower than typical metals).
