Enhanced Connectivity Facilities (ECF) is a protocol to enable the data communication among various types of computer systems. The basic data unit in ECF is a data frame constructed in a certain format which consists of the header, nibblized data, capping character and frame ID. The header consists of the frame type, sequence number (SEQ), length (LL) and checksum (XSUM). The capping character (CAP) indicates the end of data.
