Optical Component-Placement Measurement Standard

The accepted state-of-the-art method to measure component registration with respect to a location centroid is to place the panel on a large X-Y table and optically measure, with a microscope, the location of leads to pads. The Component Placement Measurement Standard is a great improvement to this method of measuring registration. This device will enable the user to optically measure the registration of components placed with automated pick-and-place machines by viewing through the gridded transparent sheet to see the component bottomside and measure the distance from the leads to a nearby grid line. This is especially helpful for "brickwalled" modules where the modules are placed so close together that viewing the leads from the top is most difficult or sometimes impossible.
