array segments isolated from each other by surrounding them with bit segment
circuitry. This circuitry controls array segment selection, isolation, and data
steering by using existing word group and array block decode signals. Bit switch
decode information is passed to a selected array on bit lines of inactive arrays
and data is steered onto a primary data bus to sense amplifiers serving the array
Referring to the figure, a diagram of the bit segment and control circuitry,
group select signals on lines 2, 4, and 6 activate a group of word decoders
associated with an array segment. A block select signal on line 8 activates one
of many chip array blocks containing additional array segments, i.e., a positive
signal on both block select line 8 and group select line 4 selects array segment 1.
