Conversion Logic From Color Screen Image to Monochrome Screen Image
This system converts screen output image from color to monochrome for
compatibility. A color application software can be used on a monochrome screen
by using this system's conversion logic.
The new PC text color application software trend is "WINDOW" function.
This system makes it possible to use such application software on the
monochrome screen and monochrome printer output.
Considering some color figures which can be displayed on the color screen
as shown in Fig. 1A, this system converts such original color images to the
monochrome ones as shown in Fig. 1B. That is, it generates lines in color of the
foreground on the same position of the border between different color areas.
Accordingly, the border is displayed in black.
The block diagram in Fig. 2 shows this conversion logic.
This system has a 1 raster line buffer for retaining PIXEL data of the previous
raster to be compared with that of the current raster. It also has a latch for
retaining PIXEL data of the previous dot to be compared with that of the current
dot. When the PIXEL data of the current line or the current dot is different from
that of the previous line or the previous dot, the monochrome data of black is
generated. The timing generator is for synchronizing each function block.
