Abstract

POWER TOOLS is a programming device allowing several application programs to interactively address a common database workspace in Structured Query Language/Data System (SQL/DS) to provide current information on product status. The application programs are written in Restructured Extended Executor (REXX) using XEDIT as the editor with Display Management System/Conversational Monitor System (DMS/CMS) PANEL to create the screens. PANEL is an EXEC used by DMS/CMS to create "menus" and "screens." The software patch between REXX and SQL is accomplished with the use of RXSQL, a program patch between REXX and SQL in Virtual Machine/System Product (VM/SP). The individual applications can be defined by the end user to simplify and consolidate data manipulation.
