Enabling Contextual Data Search for an Entire Folder
A method is described which enables contextual data searching for an entire
folder. A folder of information can be thought of as a collection of information
similar to a folder in a filing cabinet.
In accordance with the new method, a protocol is provided for a set of
applications to allow the applications to request and perform the extraction of
data from all of the documents in a folder as follows:
The library request application builds an extract request that includes the
following information: A reference to the folder document. The EXTRACT
command includes an IDENTIFIED-DATA operand with a unique pointer to the
folder document in the library.
An indicator specifying that the extract request is for the entire folder. The
EXTRACT command includes a FOLDER-DOCUMENT-OPTION operand that
indicates the entire folder is to be extracted.
