Disclosed is a method that enables verification of the raw image
compression and decompression path circuitry with every image processed.
Fig. 1 shows the method implemented to verify correct functioning of the
compression circuitry. A verify data bit pattern is injected into the raw image data
path, prior to gating the raw image data. The verify data pattern and raw image
data are then compressed through the compression circuitry. The compressed
output data is then compared with the compressed verify data bit pattern to
validate correct functioning of the image compression circuitry.
Fig. 2 shows the method implemented to verify correct functioning of the
decompression circuitry. The compressed data is gated as input to the
decompression path. The image decompression circuitry expands the data into
the original raw image data, where the expanded verify data bit pattern is tested
to validate the decompression circuitry.
