Disclosed is a method to file a new staple package into a library by copying an existing application-specific staple package. The staple relationship logically ties two otherwise discrete, independently defined documents together. This relationship is a one-to-one relation where the attaching document can be referred to as the "stapler" and the receiving document can be referred to as the "staplee". A particular "stapler" document may be stapled to many other "staplee" documents at the same time. The context defined for the staple relationship can be a named application. When the staple relationship is defined within a context, the relationship is logically limited to that context.
