Pop-Up Action Bar
Provided is a technique which displays a pop-up action bar at a user-defined
location in order to overcome the difficulties of current techniques.
The user is provided with conventional action bar, pulldown, and pop-up
functionality. However, the user is allowed to hide or suppress displaying the
action bar. When needed, the user can request that the action bar be displayed.
The action bar can be displayed at the conventional location, or it can be
displayed at a user-defined location. In addition, the user can drag the action bar
to other locations within the window at any time. The action bar can be further
customized to any orientation, e.g., vertical or horizontal, 1-line or pulldown style,
The benefits to the user include new function, improved flexibility, increased
screen space and usability, and a consistent technique for access to actions in
different types of display environments.
