Gas-Strut-Powered Tilting Mechanism for Display

A manual tilt mechanism for a visual display unit includes a base with a pivoted platform to which the display is attached. The platform has a turning crank which is coupled by a rod and lever to a gas strut fixed to the base which counterbalances the weight of the display at various tilt inclinations to provide smooth tilting. This allows the visual display unit to be adjusted to the correct tilt setting to suit an individual operator. The attached diagram illustrates the tilt mechanism including base 1, shown by dashed lines, to which horizontal platform 3 is fixed via pivot 2. Display unit 4, having screen 5 shown by dashed lines, is attached to platform 3 which has turning crank 6 extending downwards inside base 1. Lever 7 is fixed to base 1 by pivot 8.
