Method for Dividing Image Manipulation Functions Between Hardware and Software

This article describes a method which maximizes host off-load by finding all possible transforms which can be performed by the device, through modification of the original projection: by using the interaction of resolution and scale factors, @ by changing scale factors within allowable tolerances, and @ by changing the order of processing transforms, where not all of them can be done by the device. By maximizing the manipulation done by the device (which occurs first), the user sees a better response time for more image data. The resulting emulation-projection could itself be processed by the same method, giving two further projections and more host off-load of manipulation.
