This article describes an automated method of recording all time spent in or away from the office. It may be used with the IBM Professional Office System or similar system. This information gathered may be used at the end of the week to automatically process time card information. The system consists of five time recording programs and one time processing program. The appropriate program is executed whenever the user leaves the office, i.e., execute TIMEIN at the start of the workday. All time recording programs write time, date and a specific condition code into a VM/CMS file. This file is updated every time a time recording program is used. The set of time recording programs comprises the following: TIMEIN - records time, date and condition code of 'S' (Start of the day).
