Abstract

The series of sketches reproduced below illustrate an example of the use of multi-purpose pads attached to a robot arm and providing pivot holes and indexing edges for making use of a separate gripper tool. The combination of these pads and the gripper tool make it possible to use gravity for certain manipulations within a robotic process, and a tool rest for the gripper tool includes cam elements which function to restore the gripper tool to its operational position as it is returned to the rest.
