Abstract

EIA RS 232 receivers can be made by using CMOS inverters. That allows the integration of the receiver in a logic module to decrease the complexity and the cost of the final circuit. The protection of the input inverter against high voltages is achieved by using resistor R1 in the figure. The following values R1 = 4,7K ohms and R2 = 1,5K ohms may be used to comply with CCITT requirements.
