Record and Play Modes

This article describes record and play modes of a display terminal unit wherein a plurality of upper or lower case letters are assigned to a particular key in the record mode by storing control data representing shift status of shift keys and key code signals of the letter keys, and the assigned letters are reproduced in the play mode by fetching the stored control data and the key code signals in response to the depression of the particular key. A keyboard 1 (Fig. 1) is provided with various keys. A partial key arrangement of the keyboard 1 to which this article is related is shown in Fig. 2. The keys shown in the Fig. 2 are grouped into Programmed Function (PF) keys, alphanumeric keys and shift keys.
