Abstract

Diagnostic data are obtained and analyzed with improved accuracy and efficiency during equipment servicing by using a movable probe to sense operational signal values and a microprocessor to store and analyze the values. Accumulated data can be used to activate alarms or be stored on diskettes, printed or displayed for subsequent review. The probe could also be used in connection with processor driven maintenance analysis procedures (MAPS) to report measurement values. In the figure, probe 1 is moved by service personnel to designated points on equipment to sense electrical signals. The probe, such as used with oscilloscopes or logic analyzers, incorporates an amplifier, low current requirements and low capacitance.
