Mounting Bracket for Attachment of Direct Access Storage Device Assembly Units in a PC XT

This article describes a bracket to mount a variety of disk drive configurations in the PC XT space originally provided for a single drive form factor with suitable rigid support of all drives and enhanced electrical grounding properties. The mounting bracket disclosed herein serves as a universal attachment device for all direct access storage device (DASD) commodity assemblies to an unaltered PC XT base frame assembly as well as cover assembly. An exterior mounting method is used to accomplish this task, as shown in Fig. 1. This method also enables a customer to update any existing PC XT model, if desired, via a retro-fit option kit.
