Abstract

A technique is described whereby a mechanism is able to provide a 180o turn-over of mechanical assembly parts which are of unusual shapes. The mechanism is designed to provide the ability to position uniquely shaped parts into the proper control position and to turn the part 180o, as required, so as to provide the proper positioning of parts for high quality, high production operations. (Image Omitted) Production parts are advanced to the turn-over mechanism and clamped into front-holding position fixture 10, as shown in Fig. 1. Holding position fixture 10 is mounted to the mechanism's main body housing 11. Vertical air cylinder 12 lowers vertical carriage 13 until part stabilizers 14, as shown in Fig. 2, and vacuum cups 15 make contact with the part.
