A feeder for components supplied in a tube is disclosed in which a short jet of air drives components horizontally along the tube to rest against a stop giving a known alignment for robotic pick up. While awaiting pick-up, the component may be electrically and dimensionally checked and have its leads re-formed. Many types of electrical components are supplied in tubes and require feeding to a robot or automatic insertion machine. The figure shows a pneumatic feeder for components supplied in horizontal tube 1. At one end of tube 1 a flat plate 2 is fixed to a tube 3 whose internal hole 4 terminates on the surface of flat plate 2 to provide an air jet injected into the end of tube 1. Block 5 is positioned close to the other end of tube 1 with feed aperture 6 with the same cross section as tube 1.
