Fixture Provides Incremental Rotation of Workpiece in X-Y Plane Around Two Centers Sequentially

A fixture, including a ratchet mechanism and a shuttle mechanism, rotates a clamped workpiece incrementally around two centers in turn. The ratchet provides the rotary motion, and the shuttle shifts the workpiece from one center to the other. In the present embodiment, a workpiece, plate 1 (Fig. 1), is drilled with two groups of holes. The first group 2 is located around center 5. The two radii 6 are equal. The two centers 3 and 5 are separated by distance 7. The fixture is shown in Fig. 2. Here, it is seen that mounting bracket 11, for clamping the workpiece, is itself mounted on the top of shuttle mechanism 12 which is moveable left and right on a set of ways 13, by the action of air cylinder 20 pulling stops 21 and 22, respectively.
