Abstract

Electrical grounding through a magnetic latch can be conveniently achieved by attaching a grounding strap to a plate that is magnetically attracted to the back side of the latch. In the figure, commercial, laminar magnetic latch assembly 1 is inserted and locked in opening 2 of door mounting bracket 3. Ground strap 4, having terminal 5, is joined to plate 6 of magnetic stainless steel that is attracted to the back surface of latch assembly 1. Terminal 5 is secured to the door by conventional attachment, and grounding continuity is obtained when the front surface of latch assembly 1 engages magnetic stainless steel striker plate 7 welded to door frame 8.
