Abstract

A joystick has an extensible stylus so that its point will always contact with a planar surface of a touch pad when desired. A horizontally disposed touch pad 1 has a cover 2 supporting a joystick cover 3, which has a spherical socket 4 of a joystick 5 rotatably mounted therein. The joystick 5 has a pin 6, which is fixed thereto, slidably supporting a stylus 7. The stylus 7 has a point 8 for engaging a planar surface 9 of the touch pad 1. A spring 10, which is supported in the spherical socket 4 of the joystick 5, continuously urges the point 8 of the stylus 7 towards the planar surface 9 of the touch pad 1. The stylus 7 has an annular flange 11 at its upper end resting on a washer 12, which is captured between a flange 13 of a slider 14 and a washer 15.
