Concept Search - What can I type?
For a concept search, you can enter phrases, sentences, or full paragraphs in English. For example, copy and paste the abstract of a patent application or paragraphs from an article.
Concept search eliminates the need for complex Boolean syntax to inform retrieval. Our Semantic Gist engine uses advanced cognitive semantic analysis to extract the meaning of data. This reduces the chances of missing valuable information, that may result from traditional keyword searching.

Combination Steel Ferrule and Vacuum Cup Pickup Head
Combining a vacuum cup with a steel ferrule provides for wide area soft
pickup of varying size objects.
Traditional vacuum pickup heads, used for component placement, fall into
two main groups: 1. steel ferrules 2. polymeric suction cups.
Steel ferrules are good because they provide excellent rigidity with respect to
the component placement machine. Unfortunately, due to the inherent
characteristics of some components (surface roughness, inertia, weight, non-
flatness), they do not always provide sufficient holding forces. The components
may slide with respect to the placement machine, or even fall off while in transit
from the feeder to the placement site. Alternatively, suction cups provide
excellent holding forces, but they do not guarantee reliable locating of the
component (even when used with centering pincer jaws) because of the elastic
and hysteretic properties of the suction cup material.
Combining these two types of pickup heads achieves good adhesion and
reliable component location with respect to the pickup machine. The Figure
shows a normal steel pickup tube 1 which is shrouded by a rubber suction cup 2.
The steel pickup tube 1 is modified by two (or more) small holes 3 between the
open end of the tube and the place where the rubber suction cup attaches to it,
farther up. These holes allow the suction cup 2 to provide additional holding
forces, even after steel pickup tube 1 has made contact with t...
