This system is an application of sonic web cleaners in combination with sheet-handling mechanisms to provide an effective individual sheet-cleaning system to remove particulate contamination. The sheet 10 to be cleaned is deposited on a moving belt 12 provided with staggered overlapping holes or slots that communicate with a vacuum chamber 16 located in each belt. The sheet 10 is held securely to the belt and moved under a pair of sonic web cleaners 18 located above belt 12. As more clearly illustrated in Fig. 2, the sonic web cleaner 18 has a pressure chamber 20 and a vacuum chamber 22. In operation, air or other clean gas exits through opening 24 where it is directed downwardly against sheet 12. The air along with any particulate contamination on sheet 12 is then drawn into the vacuum chamber 22 to exit 26.
