In the present-day office and systems environment, the exchange of data between various word processing and data processing systems is routine. Among the services offered are library or archival services, provided by a host data processor of expanded capability to smaller processing systems, such as word processing systems, which communicate with the host processor. Such services are available through electronic document distribution networks. In one such network offering library services, the host processor was already offering retrieval services in two categories to its user processors: a) all documents owned and b) all documents owned or accessible to a particular user satisfying specific search criteria.
