In order to accurately position the axis of a platen in a typewriter the side frame of the typewriter is provided with notched areas which will act as locating surfaces. Locating surfaces 12 of the typewriter frame 10 act against surfaces on the bushing member 14. Bushing member 14 is composed of a cylinder structure 16 having locating ears 18 extending outwardly therefrom. The cylinder 16 also has a locating ear displaced axially such that the sheet metal of the frame 10 may be inserted between the ear (not visible) and the ears 18 to prevent axial shifting of the cylinder 16. Extending outward from the cylinder 16 is an arm 18 which in turn supports a second arm 20. Arm 20 is sufficiently flexible to hinge about the attachment area 22 to decrease the effective angle between arm 18 and arm 20.
