Abstract

A flexible cable subassembly is provided in which the flexible cable includes a terminating land upon which head coils are mounted. This subassembly is later used during manufacture of the accessing arm of a floppy disk drive. More specifically, this subassembly, with its prewired coils, is merely placed over the head legs, as the cable's terminating land is glued to the top side of the arm's gimbal plate. This subassembly preferably comprises a plurality of such cables, connected together in parallel fashion, but separable for individual use when manufacturing individual accessing arms. The well-known floppy disk drive provides an accessing arm which carries a magnetic read/write head. This arm is moved to position the head at a desired one of the many concentric tracks carried by the floppy disk.
