Abstract

A dual coil assembly comprises dual plastic bobbins 10 and 11 molded as a single piece having two halves connected with a flexible hinge 12. As seen in the drawings, the hinge 12 is integral with interior flanges 13 and 14. The bobbin 10 is wound starting with start lead 15 at interior flange 13 to form a first layer, returning to flange 13 after winding a second or even number of layers, forming a crossover loop 16 and continuing with the winding on bobbin 11 starting at interior flange 14 and ending at interior flange 14 with end lead 17. The bobbin 10 may also be wound starting at an exterior flange to form a first layer, returning to flange 13 after winding an odd number of layers, then forming a crossover loop 16 to continue winding on bobbin 11. The windings are covered with insulating strip 18 to complete the process.
