This article describes a combined magnifying element and feed roll device which is capable of assisting in feeding a sheet around the platen and under the feed roll. The platen 10 of a printer typically is supported on a shaft 12 which is then insertable into the machine frame and retained therein by latches 14. A feed roll assembly incorporating a magnifying element 16 is then attached to the shaft 12 by means of the slot 18 in fork member 20. The fork member 20 may be molded or fabricated as a part of the magnifying element 22 and would be present on both ends thereof. The feed rolls 24 are mounted on shaft 26 and positioned onto magnifying element 22. The assembly 16 is maintained in contact with platen 10 by means of tension spring 28. Tension spring 28 is extended to lug 30 on latch 14.
