Abstract

A multiplexer system provides an arrangement whereby the control lines for sending signals to control analog elements of a peripheral device such as a printer, are shared for the receipt and transmission of data used for operating the printer. As seen in the data flow diagram of Fig. 1, data is loaded into register A from data bus 10 when the Write Reg. A line 11 is active. Data in register A is gated through AND circuit 12 and OR circuit 13 to OC drivers 14 onto card output bus 15. Data in Register B is loaded from data bus 10 when the Write Reg. B line 16 is made active. Data in Register B is not gated until the Read Reg. B line 17 is active, at which time inverter 18 blocks the output from register A and register B is gated through AND circuit 19 and OR circuit 13 to OC drivers 14 onto output bus 15.
