Abstract

In the IMS (Information Management System) ADF (Application Development Facility) testing and maintenance environment, control and coordination of testing is impractical. The environment and the testing to be done create a complex situation and require an inordinate amount of effort. The IMSADF product consists of several independently executing, but functionally related components. Each component could be a system in its own right. Each component needs to be individually tested in addition to being used as a processor to help test other components. Developers are generally expert in dealing with their own component area, but may not have expertise in dealing with other components. Due to an absence of a readily available testing technique, most test cases have been private tests, stored on private disks.
