Abstract

In order to recover the PES (position error signal) from the servo pattern in Fig. 1, a circuit implementation of the block diagram of Fig. 2 is required. To synthesize this block diagram, two new high-performance circuits are required. 1 Differential Converter a 10 MHz large signal bandwidth b Gain accuracy N 1% c + V power supplies d Input offset error correction 2 Peak Detector a 50 ns capture capability in a 500 ns window b Matched offset errors for four detectors c Hold time >4.5 microseconds at <2 mV differential error A fast operational amplifier required for the differential converter includes an input differential amp 10 (Fig. 3) comprised of transistors TA1 and TA2 and resistors RA1 through RA4.
