The concept of a single welded structural enclosure is to provide a mechanical base for an electronic package in which large radii are utilized across the top and bottom corners. To maintain high mechanical integrity with such rounded corners, two single piece frames 10 are located at each end inside package 12. The corner geometry is developed by bending back the four sides of the frames 10 and notching the corners while leaving material in the face plane intact in front of the notch. This allows for the desired corner radii and produces a part that is extremely resistant to ending moments and parallelogramming. It should be noted that both the front and rear frames are identical and can be interchanged by merely reversing them.
