Abstract

An assembly, as shown in the figures, can be used to remove a web of material, such as a magnetic tape, from a cartridge for threading past a magnetic head and control units into a take-up reel. The tape drive could be either a reel-to-reel or a capstan drive system, depending on the drive desired. Referring now to the figures, an endless cable 1 is shown held by a drive pulley 2 and two idler pulleys 3 and 4. Fig. 2 shows a view of the positioning of the different parts of the threading assembly and is taken along line A-A of Fig. 1. The cable and pulleys define the threading paths past the transducer and guide system (not shown). A threading pin 5 is fastened to the cable 1 through a swivel block 6 for movement along the tape path.
