Abstract

The Polarized Top Card Connector (TCC) Cable Retention Mechanism 11 provides mechanical support, retention, alignment and polarization of flat wire cable assemblies 12 when assembled to the top of printed wiring cards mounted in electronic packages. The system for retaining cables to the top of cards is provided by a plastic latch-on retainer 11 using the card holder 13 for structural support, significantly reducing contact, motion and separation in the interlocked connector systems 14. Retention is achieved by plugging the flat wire cable assembly 12 into a pinned board segment (interposer) 15 which is the interface between the two connector housings.
