Abstract

A leader block of plastic is formed with a pick-up slot and a key slot. A cylindrical key of a plastic material is pressed into the snug-fitting slot to hold a tape end to the leader block. As shown in the figure, a leader block 1 includes a key slot 2 for attaching to an end of a tape 3 and a pick-up slot 4 for connecting to a threading device (not shown) for removing the tape from its reel. To attach the tape 3 to the leader block 1, a length of resilient cylindrical material, key 5, is pressed against the tape into the key slot 2. The key 5 with the key slot 2 form a snug fit to securely hold the tape 3 to the leader block 1, while permitting their separation if either needs to be replaced or the tape end breaks.
