Replacement of Icon File

This article describes a replacement or set up of icons, each of which is a symbolized small picture representing menu or message and is stored into an icon file, by displaying a desired image on a display screen, trimming a portion of the displayed image to store the trimmed image in a temporary storage area, and replacing the icon by the trimmed image. Referring to the figure, the icon file l, entry menu 2, the de sired image 3 and the temporary storage area 4 are displayed on a display screen 5. Operator selects a menu 21 representing "scanner", so that the desired image 3, which was scanned by the scanner, is displayed on the display screen 5. Next, the operator selects a menu 22 "PICK", at which a cursor 6 is displayed on the display screen 5.
