Abstract

A method of individualizing system parameters has been identified and implemented in an experimental signature verification system, providing improved performance. Former signature verification algorithms all require an enrollment session from which reference signatures are chosen for later comparison with a sample signature during verification sessions. The decision of accepting or rejecting the sample signature is based on thresholds set during the enrollment procedure. What is not considered by former algorithms is the behavior of the system to particular classes of signatures; thresholds are set by a universal algorithm that is invariant to all users.
