Roll Mode Write Operation with Pages Scattered in Processsor Memory

Both read and write operations are performed in roll mode for swapping pages between processor storage and a disk secondary store. For the write operation, the usual preliminary operation to read the header at the beginning of the track is eliminated and the write operation begins at the next sector of the disk. A track holds pages that are non-contiguous in processor memory, and the read operation further scatters these pages. The original sequence of the pages is stored in a table and the entries for the table are recalculated to account for the starting sector on the disk.
