Contacting pins and receptacles for circuit boards are generally contoured and plated to provide the best contacting surface and lowest contact resistance. The convex side is plated to provide the contact surface, while the concave side is not plated. In order to form these contacts, laser pulses can be used to provide simultaneous deformation of a metal layer and plating of the convex side of the deformed metal.
