In voltage penetration screen cathode ray tubes (CRTs), it is necessary to change anode voltage (10-18 KV) to change screen color. When using an oscillator type transistor power supply, the voltage can be raised easily during the retrace period by increasing power to the supply. However, stored charge in the high voltage (HV) output filter of the supply limits the speed at which this voltage can be dropped down.
